Why buy a leather gun case

A leather gun case serves two very important primary tasks – to protect your gun as you carry it around, and to inform those around you that you are carrying a gun. Not only is it generally not legal to carry a gun which is concealed, it can also lead to problems checking in at airports as well as on those rare occasions that you might be stopped and your personal goods examined by law enforcement officials. A leather gun case has a very distinctive shape for a reason.

Of course, although your rifle might be safety stored away in your leather gun case, even under lock and key of it is one which has that facility, it will not be loaded : remember that you are advertising the fact that you are carrying a weapon, to keep it loaded would be very unwise.

It is possible to find a case which has the facility to carry cartridges as well, but this can be considered to be a bad idea if you are planning to carry your rifle in public. In this day and age we can never be sure who is watching us.

Finally, to choose between a soft and hard leather gun case you must consider what kind of traveling you will be doing, and whether your rifle needs to be carried in a way that leaves your hands free – such as for riding a horse, for example.
