Unique
innovation – rolling backpacks
For those of us who need to use a regular airline or other
transport method and a rucksack is not really appropriate or
practical, rolling backpacks represent a unique solution. The
idea is that they can be converted between a classic rucksack
style pack, and a suitcase with wheels. They come in two kinds
of solution, there are rolling backpacks which are simply
backpacks with wheels on the bottom, and do not convert beyond
that, and there are those which actually make more of an attempt
to beef up into a suitcase when needed.
There are two aims behind the development of rolling backpacks,
one is to provide a dual use piece of luggage which requires
that pieces are added or taken away and stored to convert
between the uses. These are not really practical for travelers
who wish to use the pack as a pack when they get to their
destination, but prefer to have a suitcase with wheels up until
that time.
For these travelers, the rolling backpacks which have a handle
that is ever present represents a better solution. However,
weight is always going to e an issue, and while the
manufacturers have made every attempt to ensure that the handles
are as light as possible, it is inevitable that there will be a
slight weight gain in exchange for the convenience.
However, one thing that is clear is that the backpack
functionality offered with rolling backpacks has not been
dented, all the features of padding, pockets and carry options
are present
