The many faces
of makeup bags
Buying makeup bags used to be so simple – all that was on offer
were those little soft ones that just about carried a nail file,
and three types of lotion. They were also all that was needed,
since fashion did not really extend to the same kind of makeup
and body care that we employ today. And who said that makeup
bags were only for girls? Now men have their own kind of
grooming products, and they need somewhere to keep them. Their
little wash bags are just not big enough anymore.
So, makeup bags are more complex than they used to be, and now
come in three sizes. Small, and squashy, ideal for traveling on
a business trip where you do not usually need all your makeup at
your disposal. Large and squashy, but can also be hard sided and
vaguely manly – for men who want to carry more than just their
razor with them when they go on vacation.
Then there are the kind of makeup bags that you see in Hollywood
– with the multiple levels that fold out to reveal built-in
mirrors and adjustable lighting. In fact, these represent the
professional end of the market and are therefore not going to be
suitable for everyone.
Choosing from these is going to come down to a question of
space, and possible contents; makeup bags can contain anything
from a couple of compacts and a lipstick through to palettes of
eye shadow, depending on who you are and where you are going.
