functionality and style – What to look for when buying a
briefcase?
Try to think of all the items you need to
carry with you in your briefcase. Any business executives toolkit
will include most or all of the following - computers, computer
accessories, writing instruments, PDA's, calculators, business
cards, files, books, diaries, manuals, cell-phone, etc. Before you
buy a briefcase, it is very important to select one that fits into
your requirement of size, security and functionality. Don’t just
fall for the shiny leather! Make sure it offers you the
functionality you need with compartments that are easy to access
and can house all your business accessories.
Decide if your briefcase will be leather
or fabric. When buying one, look for full grain leather. As far as
possible do not select split, snuffed, bonded, imitation,
corrected leathers. Leather like materials, namely PVC or vinyl,
are also not recommended. As far as durability and strength go,
they are not leather like at all. You could try fabric instead.
One of the most commonly used fabrics is ballistic nylon,
preferred for its strength and durability.
There are other features that will make
your briefcase an easy to use business companion. For more space
some zippered products have the option of expandability. If you
carry it around a lot you might want to consider a hands-free
option and pick up one with a shoulder strap. You may also want to
consider security features. Look for one with a built-in
combination or key lock. If it has a zipper you could use a small
suitcase lock. There are countless options depending on an
executive’s preferences and needs. There is one out there to suit
every business executives need.
