Fendi handbags –
the case of the famous baguette!
Known globally for their exquisite
manufacturing, the Fendi brand has become synonymous with fashion
and style. Fendi handbags are considered as prized possessions and
pieces of art. And among all Fendi handbags, one of the most
innovative and memorable creations is the famous Baguette. The
Baguette, which has become a phenomenon in the fashion industry,
was the brain child of Silvia Venturini, Fendi’s creative
director. Silvia has also designed the famous Baguette buckle
based on the double FF logo that is Fendi’s trademark.
Like other practical and fashionable Fendi
handbags, the Baguette has an amazingly simple style. It is a
comfortable handbag with a short shoulder strap which has to be
carried under one's arm. The company opted to call its bag
Baguette when someone at the launch commented that it should be
carried like the French bread-Baguette, under the arm. It is
interesting to know that one Fendi Baguette takes 12 days to make.
Each handbag is made from hand-woven silk, woven at 5cm of fabric
a day. And there are only three artists who are skilled enough to
work the design!
Started in 1997-98, the Baguette has
undergone many changes and evolutions in styles and patterns to
keep up with the changes in fashion. Fendi keeps redesigning the
Baguette and other Fendi handbags. The new ranges include
geometric patterned needlepoint Baguettes in soft sherbet colours
with lizard clasps. Each one of the first lot of 12 original
baguettes ordered by Silvia Venturini had a £3,100 price tag.
Because of their popularity, today the Baguettes are available in
a range of prices, sizes, colors and styles to suit different
people.
