Dancers beware
of heavy bags-choose light weight or wheeled dance bags to avoid
weakening your shoulders and back!
Wearing your luggage on your back or
shoulders seems like a good idea. But for the delicate shoulders
of dancers it can be quite damaging. Carrying heavy bags can cause
a lot of stress and pains in the shoulders of dancers. You might
not realize how heavy your bag is until one day when during a spin
you feel the pain. Most dancers are advised to carry light weight
and soft dance bags that are easy to handle and do not weigh the
shoulders down to much. The better designers take this into
account when designing bags that would be more suitable as dance
bags.
It is recommended that you only carry
dance gear like clothing, shoes, towel and toiletries in your
dance bags. Not only will this help to reduce clutter it will also
make your bags lighter and easy to lug around. You can choose from
duffel, backpack or mini tote style bags or even wheeled luggage
that doesn’t need to be carried at all. The latter can be great
for dancers who need to carry a lot of gear to far off places.
Here most of the luggage weight is on the floor, and not tugging
on your bodies.
While fabric bags are most popular with
dancers, synthetic nylon ones are also preferred, largely for
their waterproof quality. They can make sure your dancing gear
stays ship shape no matter where you do. If you have to use a
backpack instead for dance bags, avoid slinging them on one
of your shoulders. Always use both straps when carrying it, this
way you will avoid damage to your shoulders and back.
